Vancouver-based, JusTea Beverages Inc., a for-profit social enterprise known for Purple Tea, has been internationally honored for its product innovation. Paul Bain, CEO of JusTea, announced today that JusTea has been voted Best in Innovative Packaging at the world’s largest tea exposition, World Tea Expo. Judged on tea product packaging, including uniqueness, use of novel materials, innovation, inspiration and integrity, JusTea received the winning award in the Expo that wrapped up June 14 in Las Vegas.
JusTea’s partnership with small-scale Kenyan tea farmers demonstrates how we can create sustainable jobs in Africa. Jobs can go a long way to break the global poverty cycle in rural communities, and JusTea’s partnerships in Western Kenya have helped hundreds get jobs. Mothers with stable employment can now pay the fees for their children to go to school. Now the kids can eat nutritious meals three times a day
“We are very excited to win this distinguished world award for our tea packaging,” says company CEO Paul Bain. “I am honoured to accept this award on behalf of our Kenyan farmers who craft this delicious Purple tea and are featured on every package, and our Kenyan artisan partners who hand-carve the olivewood tea spoons attached to every tin. Our team leaders in Nandi Hills are Boaz and Jamila Katah, without them Purple Tea would not be possible- they are the true heroes.”
