This week, we hosted a Live Q&A session with the legend himself, Mzee Jacob. Jacob has been in the tea industry for over 40 years, with a focus on small scale farming. His favourite part about farming tea is that it is a sustainable crop and grows particularly well in Nandi Hills. He explains that Purple Tea leaves were introduced by the Tea Research Institute because the tea farmers in Kenya wanted a commercial utilization for tea, as well as something that is exciting and new to the industry. Jacob adds that the farmers plant pesticide-free teas and do not use any harmful chemicals.
