Public education in Kenya is funded by the government up to grade 8, families take on the responsibility of sourcing school fees after that. This presents a major financial obstacle to many Kenyan families and prevents many students from attending secondary schools. A few years ago, JusTea partnered with Tumoi Teas to established a literacy program to invest in youth education in Kenya. The literacy program sponsored two Kenyan students through secondary school. Boaz is happy to announce that both students have graduated in November 2017, and will be able to pursue a university education due to their excellent performance on the public examination. Boaz would like to thank everyone who supported the cause to help those scholars receive an education. We will continue to run the literacy program for new students, so tune in to #LiveFromKenya for updates!
