What is Purple Tea?
JusTea is the first company to offer Purple Tea! It is called Purple Tea because the tea leaves are actually PURPLE! Unlike every other tea growing country that grows your basic green tea leaves, Kenya is the only country that grows beautiful, organic, purple tea gardens.
Purple Tea History
Over 25 years ago, the Tea Research Institute of Kenya developed this new Purple Tea cultivar and small-scale Kenyan farmers planted the seedlings in 2011. Since then, JusTea has worked with farmers to develop the best flavour and health benefits for this new tea type. We are proud to be the first company to offer this new award-winning, farmer-direct tea to you! This is not a gmo-plant, it is completely natural like other purple plants (think purple carrots or cabbage) and Purple Tea is part of the Camellia Sinensis Assamica tea family.

5 Reasons to Drink Purple Tea
A Brand New Tea Experience
Did you know that all tea comes from the jade green leaves of the tea tree… except for Purple Tea?
This unique cultivar yields beautiful, vibrant purple leaves! The leaves are purple because they contain super anti-oxidants called anthocyanins. These are the same antioxidants found in other purple plants like blueberries, acai and pomegranates.
Amazing Health Benefits
Purple Leaf Tea (pure, unblended) is a color changing teaPurple tea contains more antioxidants than green tea and less than half the caffiene. The leaves are organically grown and are naturally purple in color as they contain anthocyanins. Anthocyanins have been found to lower colesterol, improve immune health, and help as an anti-inflammatory. Similar to a green tea, our farmers craft Purple Tea as an unoxidized leaf to retain the most health benefits.!
Voted Best Tasting Tea!
JusTea’s Purple Tea has won major awards for its flavour, packaging design, and health benefits! With very low caffeine content, you can enjoy Purple Tea anytime of day, brewed hot or over ice!
The Only Tea that Changes Color
Purple Leaf Tea (pure, unblended) is a color changing tea!
If you add a few drops of lemon to the steeped tea, the super-antioxidants will react to enhance a beautiful purple/pink color change!
Supports Small-Scale Farmers
Fairly traded and farmer-direct, drinking JusTea’s Purple Leaf Tea directly benefits Kenyan farming families. We work with small-scale tea farmers, providing new opportunities for sustainable growth and employment for their families with a focus on ethical, natural and quality tea.
