What is Purple Tea?
Purple tea is purple because of the natural anthocyanin content in the leaves. Just like in blueberries, cherries, and other red/purple foods, these anthocyanins act as super-antioxidants, and provide many health benefits! Purple Tea leaves are also an excellent source of natural GHG polyphenols, which are known for their fat-burning properties.
Introducing Kenya Purple Tea
All tea comes from the jade green leaves of the tea plant, except for purple tea. Purple tea originates in Kenya, and due to the presence of super-antioxidants called anthocyanins, the organically-grown purple tea leaves are actually purple! Purple tea is made with a similar process to Green tea, but has more antioxidants, less caffeine, and a totally delicious, award-winning taste.
The rolling hills of Kenya is the only place in the world that purple tea grows. Kenya has produced tea since the early 1900’s, but this unique Purple tea was first grown in 2011. Organically grown on small-scale mashamba (farms), every purchase of Purple tea supports tea farming communities in Western Kenya.

4 Reasons to Drink Purple Tea
1. A Brand New Tea Experience
Did you know that all tea comes from the jade green leaves of the tea tree… except for Purple Tea? This unique cultivar yields beautiful, vibrant purple leaves! The leaves are purple because they contain super anti-oxidants called anthocyanins. These are the same antioxidants found in other purple plants like blueberries, acai and pomegranates.
2. Purple Tea Health Benefits
Purple Tea leaves have more antioxidants than any other tea leaf! The leaves have anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer properties and reduce cholesterol, boost cognitive function and prevent colds and flus. And because of how this tea is produced, it has half the caffeine of green tea.
3. Supports Small-Scale Farmers
Fairly traded and farmer-direct, drinking JusTea’s Purple Leaf Tea directly benefits Kenyan farming families. We work with small-scale tea farmers, providing new opportunities for sustainable growth and employment for their families with a focus on ethical, natural and quality tea.
4. Voted Best Tasting Tea!
JusTea’s Purple Tea has won major awards for its flavour, packaging design, and health benefits! With very low caffeine content, you can enjoy Purple Tea anytime of day, brewed hot or over ice!
